Schema 7 · engine update required

Find barcodes from
staff keyword search.

If explicit Barcode search finds an item but general staff keyword search misses the same value, this update repairs the simple keyword path. It reuses barcodes already indexed by RustSearch.

Update the existing installation

  1. Upload LightwaveLibrary-RustSearch-0.6.0-setup-afb945d8efb5.kpz over the existing plugin. Do not uninstall it.
  2. Open Configuration → Update RustSearch. Copy the newly uploaded package’s SSH command, replace INSTANCE with the library’s actual instance name, and use --update.
  3. Run as the normal SSH administrator with sudo access. The updater builds and tests the engine before the switch, backs up matching files, preserves service identity, index paths, tenant port and enabled optional API settings, and verifies the replacement. Expect a brief search interruption.
  4. Retest the same value in general staff keyword search and explicit Barcode search. Also check an ordinary text query and indexing status.

The executable must be refreshed. Uploading a KPZ alone or running --existing-engine leaves the older engine binary in place. Use the latest package’s --update command for this repair.

No reimport, schema migration or full reindex is needed when the barcode is already found by explicit search. Existing schema-6 systems require coordinated migration before production updates.

What changed

The simple native keyword query searched title, author, subject, ISBN and extra text, but omitted the existing item barcode projection. Barcode is now included for the simple staff path without an item mask. Leading zeroes, explicit field searches and record visibility are covered by regression checks. Item-masked requests keep their existing visibility path; this release does not claim broader OPAC barcode parity.

The optional OpenSearch API and Swagger remain available as an additional, disabled-by-default component. Previously enabled support is preserved by the updater.

Validated on native ARM64 and x86-64: 77 native HTTP checks and 31 OpenSearch client checks per architecture, plus the existing Rust engine tests. The setup page’s generated HTML has separate commands for an engine update and a plugin-only refresh.

The save error is a separate investigation

This package does not claim to repair the reported HTTP 500 while saving a Z39.50 record. The supplied warnings have not established its cause. Preserve the failed request URL, timestamp and corresponding fatal error for diagnosis.
